Agencja Badań Medycznych – miliony w błoto
Nie było chętnych do udziału w badaniach klinicznych nad polskim lekiem na Covid, czyli chlorochiną (Arechin) produkowaną przez Adamed – tak informuje Najwyższa Izba Kontroli. Zgłosiło się zaledwie szesnastu ochotników, jednak badania na tak małej grupie osób kosztowały aż 800 tysięcy zł. Lek Adamedu podawano w szpitalach covidowych wszystkim pacjentom, mimo że ma on szereg działań ubocznych. Dla osób chorujących na serce bywa nawet zabójczy.
W 2020 r. Agencja Badań Medycznych dofinansowała 21 projektów związanych z epidemią COVID-19. Większość zakończono, pięć wciąż było w trakcie realizacji – czytamy w raporcie NIK. Wśród tych projektów znalazły się niekomercyjne badania kliniczne dotyczące wykorzystania chlorochiny w leczeniu wirusa SARS-CoV-2. Prowadził je Uniwersytet Medyczny we Wrocławiu. Koszt dofinansowania projektu wyniósł ponad 1 mln zł, a umowa przewidywała objęcie badaniem 400 pacjentów. Ostatecznie wzięło w nich udział zaledwie 16 osób. Zdaniem prezesa ABM, „rekrutacja pacjentów przebiegała znacznie wolniej niż zakładano”. Jednocześnie dwa duże ogólnoświatowe badania nie wykazały skuteczności hydroksychlorochiny ani w prewencji, ani leczeniu COVID-19. Na wniosek rektora Uniwersytetu Medycznego we Wrocławiu prezes ABM zawiesił więc prace badawcze.
NIK zwraca uwagę na absurdalnie wysokie koszty. Mimo, że w badaniu wzięło udział 16 zamiast 400 osób, wydano na nie niemal 800 tys. zł, czyli 69% przeznaczonej na ten cel dotacji. Harmonogram przyjęty do umowy nie określał jakiego rodzaju zakres prac można było uznać za kwalifikujący się do rozliczenia. Uczelnia kupiła m.in. sprzęt i wyposażenie, które w 2021 r., w formie darowizny przekazała utworzonemu przez siebie Uniwersyteckiemu Szpitalowi Klinicznemu (USK) we Wrocławiu. Wartość darowizny wyniosła ponad 485 tys. zł. Od 1 kwietnia 2022 r. pełniącym obowiązki dyrektora USK był Jakub Berezowski, były wiceprezes Agencji Badań Medycznych. NIK potwierdza, że podawanie w szpitalach chlorochiny pacjentom z Covid mogło przyczynić się do ich śmierci.
